Anthony's Beehive was founded in 1999 after Anthony watched a video with his 3rd grade class that ignited within him a passion for honey bees. After stalling a year, his parents finally gave in to Anthony's request and purchased two beehives. Today, Anthony has around 100 hives located in Douglas County Kansas. What makes this business unique is that Anthony was born with developmental disabilities. If it weren't for Anthony's bees, his future career options would be severely limited. Anthony has turned his love for these fascinating creatures into a chance to support himself with dignity, despite his disability. He is a role model for people with disabilities as well as everyone else.
Along the way, Anthony's became a leader in the world of honey sticks. In order to sell honey sticks at Farmers' Market, the family had to find a way to manufacture these popular natural energy treats themselves. After navigating a winding journey of inventing, patents, copycats and lots of trial and error they created a branch of the business involving selling honey stick machines in the US and around the world.
We could all take a lesson from Anthony's diligence, and from the bees that he watches intently as they harvest nectar from the flowers of Northeast Kansas. Thank you for visiting our website.
